IBIRNR always just seemed incomplete to me as far as lyrics go, but I do like the EVERYDAY! part and the chorus, but the verses just never really seemed to strike my interest.

A lot from COAP...I Believe In You, COAP, King of the Fools, Be Chrool..Fire Still Burns

I think one of the lure to this band that we've all discovered was his solid and orignal lyric writing, especially during a time when it was all based around sex, drugs and rock'n roll. So many bands saturated videos with tits and ass to distract the cliche lyrics. There were some good lyrics here and there, I'm not impuning any band inparticular, but just as a whole it was all tinsel town themes.

Dee was hardcore but unfortunately, what made them popular, i.e. the cartoon videos...took away from the fact that he had quality lyrics..

When the toy's above the highest shelf, a child's tear soon becomes stone
Come inside our world an oyster 'round a pearl
We'll spin your head around, we're programmed to astound
To thine own self be true, so i think that's it's time for a turn
I have enough pain and anger in my brain to last many lifetimes
Get out of my way I'm a hangman today and the judge and jury
And if I lived a thousand times, i'd be guilty of the crime, of eternal love and dedication
Like a charging bull, it's a juggernaut, with steam at full, never to be caught
Your life is trite and jaded, boring and confiscated (i would almost bet that nobody's ever used those 2 words in a rhyme scheme..but i only bet in cards and dice) Vegas baby!!!!

I like "I am (I´m me), is very special for me.
Ít´s not the best, but...

how i tried to please you
live the way you said
do the things that you do
like the living dead
then the truth it hit me
got me off my knees
it's my life i'm living
i'll live as i please

i am, and i'll be
i will, you'll see
i am, and i'll be
i am: i'm me

now's the time to stand tall
start your life anew
freedom lies in your heart
now's the time for you

i am, and i'll be
i will, you'll see
i am, and i'll be
i am: i'm me
i am, i'm me
i am, i'm me
can't you see?, can't you see?
I'm me, i'm me, me, me, me, me
i am: i'm me
i am: i'm me
can't you see?, can't you see?
I'm me, i'm me, i'm me
i am: i'm me
i am: i'm me
can't you see that i'm me
i'm me, i'm me, look at me
i am: i'm me
i am: i'm me

I have to admit that this was the pinnacle of most shows for me. It didn't go downhill from here, Dee and the boyz simply sustained this level of power until the final encore was over.

But for me the music has always been about a fire in the pit of my gut. No one, and I mean no one, has ever made that fire burn as intensely as Twisted. I'll always love Rock n Roll Saviors first and foremost, but this song, being played with the lights off, lurching silhouettes menacingly advancing... and then the light cue, "You better take a good hard look, cause there's a diamond in this dust! Hit it!"

I've got goose chills just thinking about it.

GOOD EVENING! WELCOME TO OUR SHOW
IF YOU'VE GOT THAT PROBLEM
WELL I THINK THAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
THIS AIN'T THE SAME OLD STORY
OR THE SAME OLD SONG AND DANCE
DON'T SPEAK OF FADED GLORY
'CAUSE YOU WON'T GET A SECOND CHANCE
I WANT TO TELL YOU SOMETHING
I'M SOMEONE YOU CAN TRUST
YOU BETTER TAKE A GOOD, HARD LOOK
CAUSE THERE'S A DIAMOND IN THIS DUST
HIT IT! WE'RE NO OVERNIGHT SENSATION
NO CINDERELLA FANTASY
PLEASE NO PLAUDITS OR OVATIONS
I'VE HEARD IT ALL BEFORE YOU SEE

WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW SURE CAN HURT YOU
WHAT YOU CAN'T SEE MAKES YOU SCREAM
WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW SURE CAN HURT YOU
WHAT YOU DON'T HAVE IS WHAT YOU DREAM

AIN'T WE A PRETTY PICTURE?
AIN'T WE A LOAD OF FUN?
DON'T LET ME INFLUENCE YOU
I'LL DO THAT WHEN WE'RE DONE
OH, ARE WE IRRITATING?
OH, ARE WE GRATING ON YOUR NERVES?
DON'T YOU KNOW THAT THE GOOD BOYS
NEVER GET WHAT THEY DESERVE

WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW SURE CAN HURT YOU
WHAT YOU CAN'T SEE MAKES YOU SCREAM
WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW SURE CAN HURT YOU
WHAT YOU DON'T HAVE IS WHAT YOU DREAM

YOUR BRAIN IS FILLED WITH QUESTIONS
YOU DON'T KNOW HOW OR WHY
DON'T LOOK TO ME FOR ANSWERS, HONEY
'CAUSE I DON'T WANT TO LIE

HOW DO YOU LIKE IT SO FAR?
SAY AIN'T WE QUITE A SHOW?
THERE'S NO ONE ELSE QUITE LIKE US
THE OTHERS ALL GET UP AND GO
DON'T FILL MY HEAD WITH STORIES
YOU SEE I AIN'T NO DEBUTANTE
LET'S GET TO THE NITTY GRITTY
NOW YOU GIVE ME WHAT I WANT

WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW SURE CAN HURT YOU
WHAT YOU CAN'T SEE MAKES YOU SCREAM
WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW SURE CAN HURT YOU
WHAT YOU DON'T HAVE IS WHAT YOU DREAM

------------------------------------------------------

Thanks guys for everything!

I agree with you jaysin.one of the reasons i love TS is the quality of many of the lyrics. it's not the cliche heavy metal lyrics either about sex or fantasy themes all the time.(although i happen to like many bands who sing about these themes, there's not much originality found in them, as many songs have been written about girls or swords and sorcery thing).even a cliche theme like rock n roll is rendered differently in TS songs

My favorite song was released on a Import from Europe. The song was called Rocket Juice and I have
never seen the album anywhere before or since. Some of the lyrics were........
Ride my rocket I'll turn everything loose
I'll fill you up with Rocket juice
There is no way you will ever know
When my rocket will explode
It was a long time ago so I don't remember what the name of the album was. But
I do know that A.J was not drumming for them at the time.

For me, when it comes to lyrics, theres far to many to mention. But what GJG hit on is priceless. The first time I held that piece of Vinyl in my hands and could actually take the Boyz home and listen to them anytime I wanted was amazing. Then duping it to cassette so you could listen in the car lol WHo gave a shit the sound quality sucked from having one of those mic's dangling infront of your stero speaker and having it cranked way to loud. lol

And that 45 my friends was none other then I'll never grow up now the tip of the iceberg, the ship that launched an entire fleet, the first time you hear a baby cry and know all is well. Other milestones after that watching them perfect the show and kicking and scratching thier way to the top, actually being able to buy RUFF CUTTS in a music store and when they came back and played Snoopys after making it like they always promised they'd never forget the original SMF's. That had to be the biggest crowd Snoopy's ever had and it was kinda a telltale sign this chapter was over. No band deserved it more from the day IMHO.

But Glens right cause when your at a TS gig and them lights go down and you hear the amps starting to spew magic it's like being in the front car of a rollercoaster with your hands up going down the biggest drop only coming up for air when the last notes been played. PRICELESS.

When I'm in that old aged home dribbling on myself and the nurses are always wondering why I have that shit eating grin on my face little will they know I'm belly up to the stage with the smell of stale beer and the Boyz kicking are arses. lmao Alzheimer has some rewards ;-)

Now bring on VEGAS the Boyz still have a few more asses to kick.

I remeber when i was young in 1987-1990, Twisted was not the coolest band to be into , I had to take lot of crap from my peers.
But songs like : I am,Im me and Looking out for #1 ++++ made me feel like the smartest kid.
Twisted Sister s music always made me belive in myself. THX

I agree with you Jaysin, TS is one of my favorite bands for that reason, thats what catches my attention. I'm not a huge fan of "sex" lyrics. Another reason Bon Jovi is one of my favorites too, they have way more 'love' lyrics than 'sex' lyrics..and not to sound homosexual but I prefer that.

Gotta love "Social Disease" though!

There were bands that did it well and they made. The Crue being the most obvious. And they did it damn f'n good!

That's acually my least favorite song on Slippery, but it is a good listen now and again. The Crue get on my nervers, I only like 2 or 3 of their songs at most...I prefer RATT to the Crue.

BTW Cinderella is another one of those bands like Bon Jovi that I love that didn't always focus on sex. Skid Row too.

Dan, TS has never been and will never be the coolest band to listen to , maybe because of their appearance and some other factors and smfs will always take crap from certain people for listening to them.Actually the song what you don't know sure... was "prophetic" about that:...don't you know that the good boys never get what they deserve...

I know, I'm the only SMF in my school, they aren't the 'coolest' (because these 'slit your wrist' death metal bands, and country are the only "cool" music in my school) but I'm also famous for liking Bon Jovi, Cinderella, Skid Row, Metallica, and Foo Fighters. They only let me get away with Metallica.

I'm not "closed mined", because I've listened and just don't like it. Heavy Metal, Hard Rock, Rock N Roll are really the only ones that stike my interest. (I don't like Punk though, or this new screaming metal out these days). Heavy Metal to me is TS, Judas Priest, Metallica etc. .... not 'As I Lay Dying' or 'Every Time I Die', I can't get into that stuff.

smfs take crap by people who usually have never even listened to them seriously. I want to believe that smfs truly find their expression through TS songs, but any of those people who put us down, does he/she really find his expression through the music they hear or they listen to certain bands because it's cool or in vogue?at least listening to TS nowadays is not in vogue and that's a cool thing. those who listen to them truly like them
