Full-On SMF Posts: 96 | Mine was July 2, 1982. Rose Bowl, Pasadena Ca. Journey Blue Oyster Cult Triumph Aldo Nova I was 12 and it was amazing. A few people needed medical attention for heat exhaustion and someone broke their leg on a makeshift blanket trampoline on the lawn. I also found my first pipe left behind by some old stoner. I only really new Journey. I had heard of Triumph and BOC but didn't really know who they were. I had no clue who Aldo Nova was. Aldo Nova blew my fucking mind. They were the loudest thing I had ever heard in my(short) life. I also instantly became a fan of both Triumph and BOC. I obviously loved Journey. But in retrospect, I wonder which band I would have liked better, had I known a little more about each, previously. Anyway, it was incredible and this concert is the reason I have loved live bands ever since.

Extreme SMF Posts: 158 | Ahhhh....Terry...you have me beat my friend Many, many moons ago, I had the chance to go see Blackfoot. I didnt. I went shagging some girlfriend at the time (I was led astray). Blackfoot never came back to Manchester, UK. I think they played Monsters of Rock that year too. Didn't make that either. They split the following year. Not seeing them when I had the chance is a big regret of mine.... HOWEVER.... my first concert...the first live band I saw was Praying Mantis. I had idea why they were playing. What is a support band? You mean two bands play tonight?? I was THAT new to concerts... Mantis were opening for non other than Iron Maiden!!. Paul Dianno was singing, Dennis Stratton was on ryth/guitar, and Eddie was just a masked man. But it were as cool as f**k!!!! It was a return fall visit supporting their debut album and Sanctuary was in the charts and on Top Of The Pops....I was 14 at the time. Just to throw this in...my first TS concert was at the Ashton Metro Theatre. Wish I could remember the date. I think it was April 12th...1983 maybe? Could have been '82. The Metro was an old cinema. It was very cramped, sweaty.....AND....I just found the pictures!!! They are not very good quality. Taken with an old 110 mm pocket camera. If somebody can tell me how to put them up on the Slamboard, I will do so. I also found some Donnington pics and a couple from Hammersmith, just before Stay Hungry came out. Evel Az

I was thirteen standing among all those 8 ft (that's what they seemed to me) bikers and long-haired Metal freaks in my white tennis-jacket. Still a show I can remember as if it was yesterday (well, not really....). I just remember that my hearing was gone for three days after..............

Location: Rocking In The Florida Dark ! | You know its really interesting to see the different experiances and ages here on the board. Shoot my first concert -- Now dont barf now, cause it kinda makes me want to was Neil Diamond in the late sisxties. My second was the young rascals which was just a little better. By the later sisxties I saw what to me was my first real rock show which was Leslie west and mountain. Oh man what a difference Leslie west was at least a real rocker so that was much better. Then of course there was woodstock which brought rock to a whole other experiance. But my favorite first solo show was of course Twisted which for me I think was around 78. Then there was Wendy o Williams and the Plasmatics, maybe my second favorite to this day ( not to shaby either) Twisted has been my favorite band to this day -- well the one ive felt the closest to in a way thats a little hard to explain except I used to be right with JJ on so many of those leads. I dont think I will ever be able to replace this band on my top list -- I guess it may just be a loss one day -- hopefully not any time soon. What a great rockin band ! Evel Az Hi Evel--- Sorry I dont get on the board as much as Id like, so sometimes I dont see these. Yea before poor Wendy's demise I was a big Wendy O and the Plasmatics fan.Her solo efforts as you said were really good to. To me besides the great bands like AC/DC and the who etc There are just so many etc,TS and Wendy's band were big favorites for me. Its a shame, Great band to me and alot of what you could do back then --I dont know would fly today, after all the terrorist shit that has happened , I guess its hard to blow stuff up much anymore. Great band musically I thought. I so loved those days, but by the grace of god or whomever we still have TS So thats good. For those who dig Wendy she ( probably most know ) also did some cool movie stuff like Reform school girls and there were a couple of others --- Good stuff -- Course like most here I am a "SMF ". I love it ! Edited by Jim Hudson 2011-06-12 5:55 AM

SMF 1st Class Posts: 14 | Technically, I could say it was The Guess Who when the played a pregame show at a baseball game. Otherwise, I would have to say it wasn't until May 83 when I was in the service. I went to the MayJam festival at Jacksonville North Carolina where the headline act was Nantucket.

This is gonna sound dumb, but I was in high school in the late '70s and never went to a concert. OK, I knows what you're thinkin' ... I'm a nerd and a dweeb. My first concert is when I saw Twisted Sister at Toad's Place in 1982 (my graduation from nerd-land). I saw them several times after that including the show at Great Adventure a few years back, which I thought was a great show. Years back, I saw The Beach Boys in Yankee Stadium and in the ballpark in San Diego which took place after ball games. The fans in Yankee Stadium were much more responsive than the ones in San Diego. In Yankee Stadium a lot of fans were dancing to the music and formed a chain that stretched from one side of the upper deck to the other. The people in Cali were kinda quiet. By the way... I heard a rumor about The Beach Boys writing a new song about Hurricane Irene. The lyrics are... Come on Irene. Come on Irene. I heard what they say Sounded sad upon the radio For a thousand miles in mono Our networks cried Went along, who'd blame them? You've grown, so grown Now I must say more than ever, come on Irene Gimmie waves and make them way higher And we can surf just like our fathers. Come on Irene, oh they say you are mean At this moment... you mean everything With waves I'm obsessed My thoughts I confess I think dirty... I come on Irene. These people 'round here Wear beaten down eyes sunk in flooded places So resigned to what their fate is But not us, no never, no not us, no never We would rather surf forever. Gimmie waves and make them way higher And I'll hum this tune forever: Come on Irene Oh, they swear you are mean Ah, come on let's... let's do everything. That really high crest Oh, Irene tell me yes Oh, come on let's... ah, come on Irene. That really high crest Oh, please tell me yes Oh, come on let's... ah, come on Irene. Come on Irene Oh, I swear on my knees At this moment... you mean everything You give me high crest I am really obsessed I think dirty... I come on Irene. (Repeat and fade) -- $$

I have to make a correction in my post. My first-time seeing Twisted Sister wasn't at Toad's Place... it was at the Agora Ballroom. What was I thinking? I'll blame it on the booze on the brain. -- $$
