I know it's not Twisted Sister related, so I hope you will forgive the transgression but he's such a metal icon, and part of our metal family:
Tony Iommi has been diagnosed with early stage lymphoma. Keep him in your thoughts...or visit his facebook page and send him some good wishes.

I'm with you Terry! Tony Iommi is the father of metal and the all-time greatest riff master in my opinion. I really hope he can beat this. I would love to be able to see him up on stage again. With the original Sabbath back together and recording a new album, it can't end now!

According to the latest report I heard on 98 Rock, he's upbeat, positive and plans to continue the Black Sabbath recording project. This is the latest from his website:

Message From Tony

My fans, friends & colleagues -

I just want to say how overwhelmed I am with all your messages of support, thank you so much.

Well it's not what I wanted for Christmas, that's for sure, but now I can't wait for the test results to come in and get going with the treatment.

It's really good that the guys are coming over so that we can continue working on the album as things are going great in the studio.

Well, not much else to say at this time, so thanks again.

Bless you all,

Tony

Very sad to hear. I suppose if there was a cancer to be cursed with, Lymphoma is the best hex as they are near cure rates at the moment for early diagnosis. Myself being a survivor of 8 1/2 years now, THANK GOD and my wonderful Oncologist, I keep up on the current treatments and news, what I have been reading is uplifting and promising. If Tony can survive the music industry, this is going to be an easy one to beat!!!!!!

Prayers for Tony and his family.

BLACK SABBATH Guitarist Issues Update On His Cancer Batttle - Mar. 26, 2012

BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi, who is currently receiving treatment in England for the early stages of lymphoma, with which he was diagnosed late last year, has issued the following update:

"A little update on how it's all going:

"Well, I've had the last dose of chemotherapy, so hopefully my body will start to get back to normal soon. The steroids were the [worst]. I've now got three weeks of radiotherapy coming up which I'm told can be very tiring, so we'll see.

"A big thanks to [fellow SABBATH members] Ozzy [Osbourne] and Geezer [Butler] for coming over to England; it was a big incentive for me. We managed to work most days and have some great new tracks.

"And, importantly, thanks again for your kind messages. Hope to be seeing you soon."

Lymphoma is a cancer of the lymphocytes, a type of cell that forms part of the immune system.

Ok, ok I'm breaking the rules again...
Not a TS topic, I know.

My grandfather had a very rare form of lung cancer. He lived more than 15 years past his "6 months to live"

Hello fountainfan,

No, "Tony Iommi has been diagnosed with the early stages of lymphoma, a cancer of the lymphocytes, a type of cell that forms part of the immune system. Iommi, 63,
is currently working with his doctors to establish the best treatment plan and remains upbeat and determined to make a full and successful recovery."

I just noticed the link above I posted that Blabbermouth put the word F*UCK at the end of the URL...ain't that the truth about cancer!!!

This type of cancer is successfully treatable in the early stages, so his prognosis looks awesome!

Tony is an SMF and belongs here. NO worries T....

With lung cancer, if they can remove the entire portion of the lobe that is affected and it has not spread, prognosis again is wonderful. I'm glad your grandfather could enjoy his life for that many years after.
