Extreme SMF Posts: 190 Location: Austria | Hmm! They played 12 songs instead of the usual 15. How long did they play? They got 75 mins at Graspop. It would suck if they'd also take out "Fire still burns" and "I believe in R&R" there. These songs belong to my favourites. I fear the worst, either they won't play "Sin after Sin" and "Sleeping giant" or the aformentioned. Edited by PatrickS77 2012-06-15 3:09 AM

SMF 1st Class Posts: 12 Location: Belgium | I'm still hoping that Limp Bizkit cancels Graspop and that Twisted Sister can play the complete set like in Sweden. Last year Ozzy Osbourne got sick and Judas Priest who co-headlined replaced him with their complete set and it was magnificient. Maybe it's not nice towards LB and their fans but I don't care I want to see a complete Twisted Sister show, who knows when I'm gonna see them again...

Extreme SMF Posts: 190 Location: Austria | Yeah. That would be more than fine with me. I also hate shortened sets. I'm going there with a friend and would really be more than happy to bugger off, once TS have played, but he wants to see Limp Bizkit too... and since we're staying at a hotel, I will have to wait. I guess I will go for a drink then. As far as I'm concerned TS are the headliners of the second day and the last band to play on that stage.

The festival in Vitoria was a bit unusual--and remember, they were not the headlining act (I'm still not sure I know who the headlining act was) they certainly blew the band after them clear out of the water. I felt a little band for them. They played a very short set--they went onstage at 8:50 PM and there was no drum solo and not a whole lot of banter (although the banter was hilarious! working on the report now) It was still light out when they went off-stage.

So it was false advertising then?! That poster http://www.azkenarockfestival.com/arf/2012/images/stories/ARF-2012-BS.jpg makes it look like TS was the headliner of the day. So, how long did they play? Armadillo - 2012-06-15 10:42 PM Believe it or not, I would MUCH RATHER be in Iowa with the crew right now. I'm HATING Madrid. Why that? Try getting to Barcelona, that city is awesome... there are cheap flights on ryanair.com...... or Lissabon, that one is pretty cool too.

I'm actually bringing a newbie with me that's never been to a Twisted show so we'll see if we can convert a new SMF by the end of the night!

Extreme SMF Posts: 132 | I'm pretty sure that this is the setlist for those festivals where TS do not headline (like also Dessel next week). But hey, 75 min. TS is better than nothing. I am looking forward to it...................... SMF, Germany

Not wishing them ill but a few weeks ago they had a disagreement in the band and at that moment it looked like they would breakup... Edited by CCX666 2012-06-16 8:12 AM

Very eclectic mix of band genres, and while Twisted Sister was listed as top bill, they did not get their usual 90 headliner time spot--when they went off, there were other bands set to go on after then, well into the morning hours. I think the last band left the stage somewhere around 2 am or so (I left by then) They played...I'm trying to remember now...maybe 70 minutes? Don't hold me to that...I forgot to write down what time they finished. Edited by Armadillo 2012-06-16 5:27 PM

Road Reporter Posts: 1729 Location: Baltimore, MD | Yes, I think that's exactly the case. TS should be eating dinner right about now in Iowa....wish I was there....le sigh. Looks like there is some severe weather moving into the area, hope everything goes on without any issues. I'm exhausted...tomorrow I'll write up the Spain report and figure out where to go next..either Brugges...or possibly Cologne then Brugges.

Band Posts: 130 | For the record, we were the headliner. We had to leave very early for Iowa and the promoter was aware that we had to go on earlier to get some sleep and catch the first if 4 plane changes over the next 27 1/2 hours (Vitoria, Spain to Paris, Paris to JFK, JFK to Minneapolis, Minneapolis to Ceder Rapids, Iowa then a 2 hour bus ride to the hotel).. This happens all the time at festivals. Iron Maiden asked us to close a show for them in Spain last year because they had to make another show the next day, their stage time had also been moved up at that other festival and had to leave earlier. As for the time slot, that is all on the deal that is made between us and the festival. The festival/promoter pays us fees based on time performed. That is how their budget works and how they can afford some bands. The stage time and festival billing is all done by contract. This is the business side that fans are not aware of. We as a band try to cover as many practicle appearences as we can in the limited calender months that we actually work. In the festival circuit there are so many bands that the promoters have to fit the big bands in to give the festival it's credibility. We have become one of the bands that they feel is a 'must' if the festival is to be considered 'real'. Not bad for that "little old bar band from LI".

Extreme SMF Posts: 190 Location: Austria | ^^Ah, well. That explains it then. Wow! Tight schedule you got there. Kinda ironic, playing a big show basically at home but still having to go through a grueling 27 hour trip to get there. But it sounds like it was worth it.
