Greetings smf's,

I'm guessing this message board isn't frequented by any people of ts and/or the management but some of you might be able to send me on the wright path.
I met my girlfriend years ago on a festival and going to metal festivals and shows is something we do as much as we can.
She has been wanting to get married for some time now but because i never wanted to make it a big thing and she wants it as elaborate as possible i never proposed to her.
Well... I'm planning on popping the big question this summer and i want it to be big and over the top.
The best way would be during a twisted sister concert in front of thousands of people because my girlfriend works as a stagemanager and i just want her to be in the spotlights for once instead of making sure the spotlights are on.
This summer we will be going to graspop to see twisted sister and can anybody tell me how to contact the manager or ts so i can ask (or maybe beg) them if this is possible?
Sorry for the long read but i really want to make this happen so please help a man making his proposal render his wife to be speakless.

Thank you all in advance,
Dutch

Contact their management...
Maybe they will do it!

Now if it it was KISS per say, Gene Simmons would probably charge you money!

Good Luck..
'
P.S. You would have to be a real Old school Smf like 1979 or so to pull this off!

Thanks, my friend! Glad you like it.

Here's my advice:
1. Never ever take the love you share between you for granted.
2. Communicate. Communicate. Communicate.
3. Send her flowers and love notes on random days...not just birthdays, anniversaries and "oh-shit-I-fucked-up" occasions. Send her flowers and loves notes....just because...
4. If she asks you who you love more...her or Twisted Sister.....don't hesitate when you answer. (and say "YOU, honey! Don't be ridiculous!") Hmmmm....maybe that should be #1.
5. Contrary to popular belief, "Burn in Hell' makes a poor love song...
6. Don't take marriage advice from a middle-aged tour blogger who currently lives as a bachelor with two cats

haha i guess the whole tourblogger cats thing sounds nice too...

but i think we are together long enough to have everything covered (though she will probably say she doesn't get enough flowers but she won't let me choose between twisted sister and her because she's as fond of them as i am)

Allright so, graspop came to an end and i feel like i owe it to all of you guys who werent there to tell you how all of this ended.

After mailing back and forth with Jay Jay about this he decided to give me a call to talk things through, he told me that i should meet with their security to talk things through and call him back thursday (thats the day before the show) to see if everything would go through and if it did to meet.
So i took the day off on thursday and told my girlfriend i was probably working late i got on my bicycle and rode to the next town about 20 km's away to a friend who was willing to drive me to graspop because i am still working on my drivers licence.
The reason cycled to the next town is because i have bicycle with a big yellow clogg on it you can recognize from miles away and i couldn't take the risk of my girlfriend seeing it somewhere.
When i called Jay Jay he told me they where in and if we could meet at six, as you all will understand there was no way i could say no so at just before six we arrived at the artist entrance of graspop and i tried to call him......
Sadly there where some technical problems with his phone (there where that morning but he called me back with the same number so i figured it would be okay) so i couldn't reach him.
It took a while to convince the guards to let me in but after some convincing (maybe begging is a better word) they decidd to accompany me to the production office of graspop.
Where they told me that nobody of Twisted Sister would be in that evening and politely told me to get the fuck out....
So we waited for another hour untill we gave up hope and decided to head home (remember, i was working late) and try again the next day.
Just as we rode off the parking area my phone rang "hey gus its Jay Jay, where are you we need to meet"
Ten minutes later he escorted me onto graspop telling the guards as we passed them "it's okay this is our sound guy"
At this point everything still seemed surreal to me walking there alongside Jay Jay and the sound guy whose name i forgot (i'm sorry) while he told me that the reason he contacted me was because he thought i must have some huge balls wanting to propose to my girlfriend in front of 80000 people on stage with twisted sister (don't know about that, shaking knees i did have).
A moment later we where standing on an empty stage in front of an empty field (with Jay Jay pointing out "there will be 80000 people out there tomorrow) while he told me "what will you say, pretend i'm your girlfriend"
I still don't fully grasp that i stood on stage with Jay Jay fucking french telling me to pretend he was my girlfriend.
We walked through what i should do and how everything would go down like after what song "we will try to tell you in advance and you will be standing right here and we will put up the setlist in front of you so you can countdown, thats not better but it'll give you time to get nervous".
After getting my name on the lists it had to be i was sent on my way home, during the ride home the sky turned pink.
The day of the festival is a bit of a blur as you might understand i didn't get alot of sleep in the time leading up to this and even though i was pretty sure my girlfriend would say yes i have never been this nervous in my life.
Let's skip to the moment me and my girlfriend where onstage, i don't think i realised this was actually happening untill the moment i was supposed to ask Dee for the box with the ring, he was standing maybe two meters away from me kind of chearing me on and at that moment i realised what was happening and i froze, the whole day this moment went through my mind thousands of times but seeing Dee Snyder standing there a few feet away with a crowd of extremely wet metalheads behind him it suddenly hit me what was happening.
Luckily i had my girlfriend there with me and as i turned a little so i saw her the words started to come out of my mouth and everything around us disappeared, all i could see was her eyes tearing up as she said yes.

It was really something i will never forget and right now i'll drink one on all the guys from Twisted Sister and the amazing crew they had with them, you made all of this possible and all the time and effort that went into this i am more gratefull for than i can express in words.

Yeah. Well done. That's a story for the grand kids. Congrats. And good for you, unlike us, you found a dry spot to watch the show. ;-)

Congrats Guus! I've got a nice shot of the ring box--I'll post it on the blog. Dee was in RARE form at Graspop...even though he said in front of a bazillion people, there were Dee-isms too risque to even put in the road report!

CONGRATULATIONS!!! I wish you the best!

I'm happy that my boyfriend is not a member in this forum...
When we moved in together 7 years ago i told him that I dont wanna married no one... NEVER! And I remind this to him almost every day...
So 2-3 months ago he told me: "I'm not stupid, when the time comes I'll ask you to marry me on a TS concert... on stage... in front of all the SMFs and the members of TS that you love all of your life. I know my love that is the only way that you' ll say "yes" to a proposal!"
So I told him "Ok, if the TS allow you on stage...you are right i could not say "no" I 'll say 'yes' i' ll married you"

Btw I'm from Greece and I knew that it was hard for another TS here anytime soon, and I was sure that no one ever will allow him to do a proposal on stage on a TS concert, if there was a TS concert anytime soon here...

...But now I am a little worry...hmmm...

Thanks for all the good luck wishes and katerina don't do this to him, i gained 30 years in two days (but then again i wont have to buy flowers for the next decade or so)
Armadillo thanks for the report it gave me the chance to find out what was going on during the show next time i'll be glad to be out in the rain.
Forgot to mention that when we came home at half past four in the morning the first thing we saw was our freshly painted bright pink front door, will try to see if i can post a picture.

LOL Katerina. I guess it's on. Pray that your boyfriend never finds this website (and thread) or there will be be no chance for you to remain unmarried. ;-)
