Went record shopping in Princeton yesterday and found a radio station compilation album from 1982 that includes TWISTED SISTER. The album is called "WBAB 102.3 SON OF HOMEGROWN," and the song is YOU CAN'T STOP ROCK N ROLL (although on the album jacket the song is listed as CAN'T STOP ROCK AND ROLL). But, this is a version of the song that I have never heard before. The instrumental track is different than what we hear on the YOU CAN'T STOP ROCK N ROLL album, the lead vocal is different, the arrangement is different, and the backing vocals are different (it actually sounds like a woman doing the backing vocals). Anyone have any information about this recording? Was this a demo given to the radio station for this album? Was the song recorded especially for this album? Thanks for any info anyone may have!

Album info: Printed and pressed by PRI Record Pressing, Wyandanch, NY (1982)
All profits generated from the sale of SON OF HOMEGROWN will provide musician scholarships at Long Island colleges
Other bands on the album: STRANGE BREW, THE ROUSTABOUTS, MAZARIN, CROSSWINDS, BETWEEN THE SHEETS, JOE COSTANZO, SOUTHERN CROSS BAND, EQUINOX, VIXEN, RAT RACE CHOIR, CINTRON, ZEBRA

I think I remember that.... The Radio station hired a bunch of musicians to re-record those songs from the artists you mentioned...

Some sort of local promotion thing.....

Or it was the band that worked for the Radio station that put there spin on local talent and redid there songs?
For what reason I don't know..?

It was Not TS or any other artist on that record..

It is definitely Dee singing.

And each band on there has their own unique sound, so this is not one band re-recording a bunch of other band's material.

It is a collection of unsigned Long Island bands.

I've never heard any alternate versions of YCSRNR beyond live stuff. Would be curious to hear that one. Sounds like a great find!

This record turns up on ebay quite regularly. Until today I wasn't aware either that this must be a different version of YCSRNR............so I am sharing your curiosity. I wonder if there's also a CD version available but I don't believe that.

Definitely worth getting if it comes up again on ebay. The backing vocals alone make this recording special. Would love to know who is doing the backing vocals, and also who is playing drums.

I would never post anything on the internet that didn't belong to me (without permission). In this case the only one who could give permission would be Jay Jay. If he says it's OK, I will gladly post.

Cool thinking. But you can also make it private upload not public and nobody can find it and give the link only to us, the fans here

Isn't there another WBAB record with "Bad Boys (of Rock 'n' Roll") on it? Is that version also different?

The VIXEN on this album has a male singer. Definitely not the all-female "Edge of a Broken Heart" VIXEN.
