Location: UK | Well. I've just taken delivery of the three albums and all I can say is that while they sound fantastic (obviously from a higher source as they seem clearer if nothing else), the downside is they've been "re-mastered" in the typical modern way, ie, the faders seem to have been whacked up full so it sounds loud and punchy.
Unfortunately my ears ache after listening to an entire album.
I know people have an issue with the Spitfire records releases, but at least there is some difference in sound levels within the same song.
Take "Come Out and Play" for instance. On the Spitfire Records version, when the songs kicks in properly with Dee screaming "..of the niiiight...", the word "night" is in two halfs of different volumes, the second half louder than the first: niii-iight.
On the new release there is no noticable volume increase, and looking at the wav file, it's almost, but not quite, a solid line peaking at 0db for most of the track.
NOT impressed.
