Location: Baltimore, MD | Dee gave his version of the story in the book. And his song writing is a pretty substantial part of what helped get TS to the top. There are so many things I adore about Jay Jay...his song writing isn't in my top ten list. Jay Jay owns the name and brand. Dee owns the rights to the music. (I believe).
I agree with fountainfan.... Van Halen became Van Hagar. Different band. Different sound. Still kicked ass and had a career after. AC/DC, Judas Priest and Iron Maiden all had other lead singers, made new music and thrived. (And look at that--Rob Halford is back again...fans win all around)
Dee will retire from TS at some point, that's a guarantee. The question will be: Does the rest of the band decide to retire TS or do they rise like a phoenix in a new form, with a new singer, new songs and new sound and find new fans?
Dee Snider performing solo is a great act. It's not Twisted Sister....it's Dee Snider, and he performs some TS songs. Twisted Sister without Dee Snider? Wow. I'm not sure. That one will be tough, but with a strong lead and hmmmm.....maybe some new tunes....we could have a new Twisted Sister. Maybe break out the war paint and pink/black armor to help me warm up to him.
One thing's for sure: the time is coming...so you be ready...to show the world to rock and roll! Day of the Rocker is coming. I challenge each and every SMF out there to see Twisted Sister play live in 2015!
