I can't remember if one of those June '84 dates was the New Hampshire outdoor show with Cheap Trick, Lita Ford and Ratt. I'm looking for that newspaper ad that I know I saved.

I'm pretty sure it was Easter eve, 1986 that I saw TS in Scandinavium, Gothenburg. Amazing show...
March 29th?
(They also played at Isstadion in Stockholm, and at Olympen in Lund that week, if my memory serves me well)

By the way, who was the warm-up act?

And who was the little boy in the back of the crowd on the floor? I saw him dancing (running in circles) during one of TSs songs...

hi everyone,

I found that in the metallica history: They say, Twisted sister was supportin´ their second europe tour, wich starts on 6. june in holland/netherlands

6. Juni 2. Metallica Europatour startet in Holland with 'Twisted Sister'.

Here the metallica dates:

03/02/84 Zurich, Switzerland Volkhaus
05/02/84 Milan, Italy Teatro Tenda
07/02/84 Nuremberg, Germany Hemmerleinhalle
09/02/84 Paris, France Espace Ballard
11/02/84 Zwolle, Holland Aardshock Festival
12/02/84 Poperinge, Belgium Maecke Blyde
27/03/84 London, England The Marquee
08/04/84 London, England The Marquee
06/06/84 Leiden, Holland Stadgehoorzaal
07/06/84 Frankfurt, Germany Volksbildungsheim
08/06/84 Oldenzaal, Holland Jumbo
09/06/84 Zwaagwesteinde, Holland Evenementhenhal
10/06/84 Poperinge, Belgium Bosco Sportsfields
20/07/84 San Francisco, California Mabuhay Gardens
03/08/84 New York, New York Roseland Ballroom
29/08/84 Paris, France Le Bourget

I´ve seen twisted sister at the monsters of rock festival on 4. september nürnberg, germany with motörhead, thin lizzy (with Phil lynott), blue öyster cult, saxon, meat loaf and whitesnake (headliner).
on 13 april 1986, they played in neunkirchen (near nürnberg) germany on their come out and play tour

hope I could help

stay sick

Hi there,

since these dates come from the Metallica homepage they are not completely applicable for the TS history. Here's some details:

- the dates in February were played in support of Venom and have nothing to do with TS
- March and April dates were played as headliners, no TS either
- the TS European dates that I can definitely confirm are:

June 01, 1984 - Newcastle,UK/City Hall
June 02, 1984 - Oxford,UK/Apollo Theatre
June 04, 1984 - Paris,FR/Eldorado
June 07, 1984 - Frankfurt,GER/Volksbildungsheim (TS headlined and Metallica opened)
June 08, 1984 - Oldenzaal, NL/Jumbo - TS did NOT play there (they were in town though) but Metallica, opening act was Warlock (Doro Pesch)
June 09, 1984 - Zwaagwesteinde,NL/Evenementenhal (Metallica headlined, TS opened, Dee joined Metallica during "Metal Militia")
June 10, 1984 - Poperinge, Belgium/Heavy Sound Festival
June 11, 1984 - Hamburg,GER/Markthalle
June 13, 1984 - Norwich,UK/University
June 15, 1984 - London,UK/Hammersmith Odeon (the show we all know................)

To the best of my knowledge this was the whole European tour that TS played in June of 1984. I am not sure about the June 06 - Leiden,NL date. At least I have never heard of it nor seen a recording or anything...............

Hope this helps.

Ooops, just noticed that some infos for 1986 are requested too, so here's what I have for 1986 (Europe)

Ipswich/Gaumont Theatre 23.03.1986
London/Hammersmith Odeon 24.03.1986
London/Hammersmith Odeon 25.03.1986
Stockholm/Isstadion (incl. Gold record presentation) 28.03.1986
Gothenburg/Scandinavium 29.03.1986
Oslo/Drammenshallen 31.03.1986
Copenhagen/Saga 01.04.1986
Lund/Olympen 02.04.1986
Essen/Grugahalle 09.04.1986
Ludwigshafen/Eberthalle 10.04.1986
Munich/Circus Crone 12.04.1986
Neunkirchen/Hemmerleinhalle 13.04.1986
Offenbach/Stadthalle 14.04.1986
Böblingen/Sporthalle 16.04.1986
Hanley/Victoria Hall 19.04.1986
Nottingham/Royal Concert Hall 20.04.1986
Manchester/Apollo Theatre 21.04.1986
Edinburgh/Playhouse 22.04.1986
Birmingham/Odeon 23.04.1986
Amsterdam/Edenhal 25.04.1986
Brüssel/Vorst Nationaal 27.04.1986 (suppoorting Accept, opening Band was Dokken)
Paris/Casino 28.04.1986

plus TS played two shows in Italy in June, 1986:

Bologna/Teatro Tenda 23.06.1986
Milano/Teatro Tenda 24.06.1986 (this was the last show with AJ, I think)

These are not all dates, I'm sure, as there's a big gap between April 2 and April 9 (I think they played more shows in Scandinavia (Helsinki ??) as Essen was definitely the first concert in Germany. The US dates you will definitely find in some old Circus or Hitparader magazines ;-)

That's all folks.

Take care

I have an audience recording of the Edinburgh show - it was another great performance. This was the height of the PMRC issue and Dee gave a great rant all about this and ......... "If you see anything like this start to happen in Great Britain, start to happen here in Scotland - I want you to kill the motherf#^!-r before it grows - dont let it take you're music away from you!!"

My Mom said i was too young to see them in 1985 (I was 9), it was suppoed to be my first concert and then they broke up so I never did get to see them live. Well as luck would have it I did get to see them for free AT KLONDIKE DAYS 2005, AND IN A WIERD IRONIC TWIST OF THE SISTER, MY SON GOT TO SEE THEM AS HIS FIRST CONERT. TS rocked from day 1 and always will. They truned me into a Metal head and 26 years later nothing less than pure heavy metal passes through these ears!!!

Yes, I too agree with George that all updates are allways cool. I also am hoping to see some more postings in regard to the comming year ! Well life has certainly been better for me financially, actually loosing over inch off my kitchen floor last week, below the baseboard for a sixfoot lenth on the right side -- Guess the termite probs and the house being built on sand didnt help. My Girlfriend says the house should be condemmed and my cousin says get out -- she just didnt say how im supposed to do that well if that happens to you the Rari dees isnt a bad way for sinking a kitchen.( sunken kitchens are supposed to be a desired thing -- opps didnt work for me. Oh god, well while true, forgive me as it has little consiquence to the topic ,

I so - so hope to see some more Twisted shows hopefully soon. You rock my friends, and for me I cant even begin to describe how awesome this phenomina has been in my life! -- Please keep us rocking long and strong as possible, Im sure I speak for many when I say we trully love you and your music trully defines really , really great music ! -- Thank you Twisted and happy holidays to My friends Jay,Eddie , Dee , Mark , and of course AJ and the entire crew ! who doesnt get enough credit. You guys are the best! I love you and I allways will ! , And also to our board members who are such a great bunch of really kind good peeps !

I'm very impressed with all the quests for knowledge on Twisted Sister. I only saw TS five times. Three times at the now demolished Philadelphia Spectrum (84,85,86) and the other two times in England, (1983 Donnington Festival) and 2010 Bloodstock Festival. I never knew they went on tour with Metallica. Those must have been some real kick ass concerts.

If you want to read an account of heavy metal history in the 1980s, may I suggest the book Rock And Roll Children by Michael D. LeFevre. It is a detailed, accurate and hard hitting account of heavy metal from 1984-87. Twisted Sister features very heavy throughout with three of their Philadelphia concerts protrayed in fine detail.

UH, SMF, Germany....you do realize that you are disagreeing with someone who can definitely say for certain, where Twisted Sister DID and DID NOT play, and with whom?.... I think it's a safe bet that our Mr. French knows this definitively. (just saying....)

Hi Armadillo,

normally I would totally agree with you and Mr. French but then I wonder where I have was on the 6th, 9th and 10th of June 1984. I'm quite sure that I saw TS and Metallica in Frankfurt, Zwaagwesteinde (Holland) and at the Heavy Sound Festival in Poperinge (Belgium) ;-).

I think we're talking about the wrong month here. As far as I can remember the Stay Hugry US promo tour with Ratt started in July (or maybe in the second half of June - this I don't know for sure).

Take care and stay twisted, looking forward already to your next road reports.

Greetings from Germany.
