Off to see KISS tonight with the missus. Should be a great night.
Has anyone seen them on the Sonic Boom tour yet? What did you think? I saw them at Graspop a couple of years ago and they were great but I always preferred indoor shows so really looking forward to this

i saw the real KISS twice in the 90's. i don't really want to see KISS 10+ years older with 2 fake members

That's ridiculous. You don't want to see a band because they don't have all the original members! Neither do any other band I can think of. I can't think of one band who still has the same members as it had when they started - including TS

Kiss were brilliant by the way. 2 hours and 15 minutes show - really enjoyed it

Have to agree eoineo,

Bands such as ACDC, Maiden and the 'Leps also all have "fake" members and I for one would jump at the chance to see them (as well as Kiss) as often as I could. The only band I can think of that genuinely has all original, founding members (with no changes or comings and goings in between) is ZZ Top (since 1969). I believe they also had their original manager until a couple of years ago.

i don't want to see a band with 2 fake members dressed as other members. thats the problem. if these guys had their own makeup or KISS wasn't wearing makeup i could care less about who was in the band. i just watched for the 100th time kiss exposed and when the band starts talking about peter and ace leaving in the early 80's they said in that documentary that gave eric carr and vinniw vincent different makeup because they had different personalities and then said they took the makeup off in 1983 out of respect for what the original 4 meant. now all the sudden i guess that respect is gone?

its an easy answer. when peter and ace left concert tickets and album sales fell off. if they dress 2 guys to look like them the general public won't notice its different guys so unless you are a diehard KISS fan you'll buy a cd/ticket if you see the faces of the 4 guys you know. is it ok if J.J. leaves twisted sister to dress someone up exactly like him?

U2 has had the same 4 guys since the first album came out in 1980. the reason i say "fake" members is because gene and paul try their hardest to not bring up they have guys dressed as peter and ace. each band member thought up the makeup. to singer and thayer that persona means nothing. ace frehley really believes he was captured by aliens hence the space ace. peter criss came from a tough neighborhood and says he must have had 9 lives to be able to make it out alive as a teen hence the cat.

OK - can understand a little now where you are coming from.

I don't think the general public has any idea exactly what the makeup each member wears symbolises or even is. All they know is that it's 4 guys with black and white make-up.

I would suspect that the real reason that Thayer and Singer wear the Frehely and Criss makeup is that Gene reportedly owns the copyright on the images. Every picture sold is money in his pocket.

I think we will have to agree to disagree on this. They still put on a great show even if they playing is a little sloppy and Paul's voice cracks a little at times.

yes ace sold his makeup design to KISS LTD. after the farewell tour because he said he was done and criss sold it in 2005 or so.

like i said if they had their own makeup of the band wore no makeup at all i'd probably go but this just looks like a tactic to trick the genearl public into buy a ticket or cd because they see the 4 faces they are familiar with

Saw them four times on this tour and loved every minute of it. Who cares if Tommy & Eric are wearing the SpaceAce & Cat makeup. It's only rock n roll...but I LIKE IT!

You see Pete... you get it. It's only rock and roll. Gene and Paul have said time in and time out, each one of them is a replaceable character.
I think they sound and look great. If all goes well, should be at hellfest in june
