7 TWISTED SISTER records being re-released in Japan as mini-LPs

Japan seems to have a fetish for little things. One of these comes in the form of Mini-LPs.
And it’s been recently announced that seven of Twisted Sister‘s albums are being re-released in Mini-LP format. What is a Mini-LP you ask? Well, it’s a CD. Except the cover is cardboard just like vinyl LPs. But they’re mini because they’re CD sized. If you’re saying “Whoopdy fucking doo” about now, then you’ve completely understood it.
The only band I know of to do this in the western world are Iced Earth, who even went to the lengths of printing “record-like” tracks as the CD artwork.
But wait, the CDs themselves will be SHM-CD format. Now this is special right? Uh, no. SHM stands for Super High Material. The audio quality is still the same. The sampling rates are still the same. They just use a different plastic that’s supposed to be read better by special players. It’s a marketing gimmick designed to suck in the stupid and the gullible.
Maybe you’d care if they were Super High Quality, or Super High Fidelity, but they’re not. They’re just different plastic.
Right, so now that you’re all ejamacated, back on to Twisted Sister. Seven of their albums are being re-released. They are:
* Under The Blade (1982)
* You Can’t Stop Rock ‘N’ Roll (1983)
* Come Out And Play (1985)
* Love Is For Suckers (1987)
* Still Hungry (2004)
* Club Daze Volume 1: The Studio Sessions (1999)
* Live At Wacken: The Reunion (2006)
Notice anything wrong there? Are you sure? Remember a wee album called Stay Hungry? It only put Twisted Sister on the map. Nothing too important. It’s not there. They’ve included the remake Still Hungry, but not the original. I wonder why that is. And why they didn’t include Club Daze 2, or Live at Hammersmith strikes me as odd too. I mean, if you’re going to go to this effort to release almost everything, why not release everything? It’s only three more discs.
We won’t talk about A Twisted Christmas. That never happened. |
