Nearly A Band Member Posts: 1321 Location: on a Twisted planet | I BELIEVE WHAT TS SAID, I READ A LOT ABOUT THIS FEW YEARS AGO, SO I KNOW IT's NOT A RUMOR... but, Eric Adams from Manowar in an interview says that the TS - Manowar - Hanoi rocks thing was just a rumor.....: According to the official TWISTED SISTER biography... Haha, I know it's coming, I know what's coming! (laughs) ... rumors say that TWISTED SISTER challenged you, MANOWAR, and HANOI ROCKS for a street fight back in '83 - was it in the UK? (giggles like crazy) Here's the deal. At this time I think TWISTED SISTER just needed some press and they came up with this – this never happened! (laughs) I've never met those guys! I don't know what they're talking about. The optimum word here is ”rumor”, but it's a good one – it's been around for years! But, wasn't Ross the Boss and Animal (TWISTED SISTER) friends back then? Yeah, they were. I think they still are! As a matter of fact, I think he has been to a few of our shows. That makes the whole thing really stupid! (laughs) whole interview: http://criticalmass.se/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=15%3Amanowar-interview-with-singer-eric-adams&catid=35%3Aintervju-engelska&Itemid=56

Road Reporter Posts: 1729 Location: Baltimore, MD | Manowar seems to have a really bad habit of being on the end of all sorts of rock rumors. A few months ago, it was a ridiculous round of rumors about Manowar and Ronnie James Dio that tarnished the blogs on Wendy's site. I love Manowar and their music--but I'm getting tired or reading Manowar vx. Fill-in-the-blank. I wonder if THEY aren't the ones (not Twisted) who stir up rumors to keep their name alive in the press, because they certainly aren't making waves with their instruments these days. pity. Extreme SMF Posts: 158 | Oh...its true alright!! Sounds was the big music paper at the time. They ran an article covering the "rumble" I used to have the pics. All gone now. One picture showed Dee looking under a park bench with a loudhailer (supposedly shouting "Hanoi Rock!! Are you in there??") and a group photo of TS with about 20-30 SMF following them around Convent Garden. JJ was wearing a beanie hat in the pic. Damn I wish I still had those articles..... Road Reporter Posts: 1729 Location: Baltimore, MD | Okay....I can see Dee doing that. That IS pretty funny. Thanks for the interview--I don't think I've read the words "brother" or the p-word so many times in one interview-- Could have done without the vulgarity. We get it, brother, you're a rock star. You get the girls. Have some class.

Came across this article by Dave Ling (obviously written after the NY Steel 9-11 benefit gig but before the reunion took off big time) which mentions the same challenge. Interesting article with some fascinating quotes and interview snippets. http://www.daveling.co.uk/doctwisted.htm Also came across this pic of Mark with Dave Ling and Pete Way of UFO: .......Oops having problems with Photobucket - have attached pic as an attachment below! .............Jeez! forgot the link to the article as well - D'oh!! Extreme SMF Posts: 158 | Holy Cow guys... I just read through the Dave Ling article...I laughed my nuts off at the memories. I'll even confess to a tear in one eye....that article is my late teen years re-written. The events, some of the venues, the articles....all embedded in my brain as part of my 'Growing up Twisted" An absolutely brilliant time in my life. If JJ reads this...and I have said this many times on this site...dude...you have no idea of the effect TS had on us Brit headbangers....and my parents thank you for it!! Kept me out of trouble....( well....kinda...he he he he!! ) Roadstar...no...I wasn't there. Wished I was at the time. Found out after the fact. Randy....thanks....it was funny to see that some brain cells remain intact!! I was spot on...even down to quotes!! Evel...Phx...Az

Road Reporter Posts: 1729 Location: Baltimore, MD | Fantastic article--thanks for sharing this. Hard to read at spots--I still have a very difficult time reading about the breakup of the band. It just gives me a pitting feeling in my gut every time. I'm so grateful that the reunion was successful....and here we are, waiting on dates for 2011. Rock on.
