Nearly A Band Member Posts: 717 Location: Chicago | This isn't Twisted Sister related but I just found out that Gary Moore passed away today. Thin Lizzy was one of my all-time favorite bands along with Twisted and Gary has always been one of my favorite guitar players. The man could burn and be tasteful doing it. He's one of the few guitar players that I could just sit and listen to all night long and not have it all just start to sound like a bunch of notes after a while. Most of the folks here in the US know him best for his blues stuff on "Still Got The Blues" but if you have never heard "Victims of the Future", go pick it up because your missing out!!! The album is some serious ass kicking rock 'n roll. He was only 58 and appeared to be in good health. It always sucks to see someone leave us at an age when they should have many years left with us. I know there's a few other Lizzy fans on this board as well so I figured I would pass on the news. RIP Gary. You will be missed.

Road Reporter Posts: 1729 Location: Baltimore, MD | There's the link on MSN.com http://music.msn.com/music/article.aspx?news=627221>1=28102 I just read it myself--totally shocked. deeply saddened. Those of you who did not listen to Jay Jay's interview with Eddie Trunk--one of the things that they talked about was how different it is to be a rockstar in your 50's....things that one never thought about/worried about when you're rocking in your 20's. (I remember feeling immortal at 21.) A loss to one in our heavy metal family is a loss to everyone--my thoughts are with the Thin Lizzy family and their fans and friends.

Extreme SMF Posts: 124 Location: Dublin | Saw Gary 2 or 3 times playing solo gigs back in the 80s in Dublin. Really great down and dirty rock and roll shows. I loved the blues stuff as well but the hard rock solo stuff was excellent. Felt sorry for the other band members sometimes as he improvised so much on stage you could see them trying to keep up and guess what he was goiung to do next - brilliant stuff. All the radio stations in Dublin have been playing Lizzy all day - very unusual in our pop saturated stations RIP Gary - a true legend

Destroyer Posts: 545 | Saw Gary a few times, the first being on the Victims Of The Future tour. He played at L'Amour's in Brooklyn, and I was hooked ever since. The world is a much crappier place without a guitar player of his caliber in it. RIP Gary...now go write some tunes with Phil!

Extreme SMF Posts: 158 | I couldn't quite believe the headlines. Another rock icon gone. Gary was only 58....thats is not old people. Sad....and scary. Only 11 years older than me.... I saw Gary a few times in the 80's. A phenomenal player. Put out some great songs, especially with Phil Lynott. 'Out in the Fields' springs to mind. Another very sad day for rock'n'roll. Incidentally, TS played on the same bill as Thin Lizzy when Lizzy played their last gig with Lynott. September....1983...(I think). Dortmund Germany. TS opened the Monsters of Rock festival at the velodrome. I was there...Motorhead, Lizzy and Whitesnake played also. Them were the days..... Evel Phx Az Edited by Evel 2011-02-08 2:13 AM

I didn't know that this was the last Lizzy show with Lynott but I will rememebr that festival forever because it was my first TS concert (they were the reason I went there). The second I walked into the venue the lights turned down and the first chords of "What you don't know..............." blasted through the PA.iI can remember this as if it was yesterday - great times. Sad to hear about Gary even though I never was a fan........................R.I.P.
