I'm reading the 'Dee says it's over' thread - good stuff on that thread. I'm sure the band will enjoy reading what y'all have written.

But I had a thought. Everyone, I'm sure, is aware that prior to the birth of TS, Jay Jay was briefly in line for a spot in Wicked Lester, which ultimately was filled by Ace (the tale is told here by Jay Jay).

It's interesting to speculate - suppose Jay Jay had gotten the Wicked Lester gig? Think how different the rock landscape would be today... no TS, first off. And that would have altered the entire history of MTV, since 'We're Not Gonna Take It' would not have been one of the videos that helped MTV make their bone in cable broadcasting.

Not to mention how Jay Jay's presence would have altered what Kiss turned into. You can't say for sure that Paul and Gene wouldn't still be selling Kiss Coffins today - but having a non-chemically-altered lead guitarist in Kiss would have completely changed their sound - and Jay Jay's input into the songwriting would have changed that band's direction for sure (who knows if 'I Was Made For Lovin' You' would have even been recorded?).

Anyway. Interesting to think how different rock would be right now if the timing was a little different back in the day. Feel free to discuss...

kind of mind numbing to think how one thing being different can change so much! I think about crap like that all the time, my mother says I think too much and my ex used to just say I was f&*cked in the head

Webbie ,

FLUCKIN AWESOME POST!

To be perfectly honest I don't see Jay Jay staying much after they made it big. He would have been by far the most talented in the band and probably would have felt confined by the limited raw talent he had to bounce things of off. Then after he left he would have started Sister and as Zappa would say, Thats the end of the storeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. lol

I like my scenerio because I get the best of both worlds. Early Ki$$, IMHO, was the beginning the middle and the end for them guys and I can't envision life not growing up, Literally, with THE BOYZ.

(I love stuff like this...)

Let's say Jay Jay was with Kiss and left soon after they got huge, in order to put together TS.

The pool of musicians he would have had to choose from would have been radically different, since at that point he'd have been around the world with Kiss.

And who's to say that any of the members of TS would have ended up in the band? Not to mention the environment they cut their teeth in and developed their persona and stage chops - the club circuit of LI - would have been completely bypassed (and changed as well - as much as I liked Swift Kick and some of the other bands, having one of them as the top dog on LI would have changed the LI band attitude from the top on down).

I'm imagining a version of 'It's A Wonderful Life' with TS as George Bailey. Heh heh...

HEY WEBBIE,

MY BALLOON JUST WENT "POP" lol

I love shiet like this too. You do have several very valid points. BUT to try and keep my scenerio alive I'm gonna imagine, Just like Joe Perry did, Jay Jay wanted a bunch of unknowns and had to start in the clubs. ;-) Only unlike Joe he never ever ever gets back with KI$$ and TS rocks the world for decades to come.

I'm glad Jay Jay never was in WL or Kiss. TS kills Kiss, without fireworks on stage, coffins, condoms, or any of that shit. The music is better and TS never sold out except for playing sold out shows.

I had to reply to this post, but a little different reply. Now Kisstory would have never been if kiss hadn't turn into such a commercial joke back in 1979.So if Peter&Ace had never left kiss,Eric Carr would never been part of Kisstory,Or Vinnie,Mark,Bruce or Eric Singer. So alot of credit goes to Peter Criss&Ace Frehley In helping Kisstory, regardless what Gene&paul Says.Sorry wasn't trying to alter this post.
