I have been trying to show how the band seems to be only interested in money making events. They did play the starland in 09, i was there. It was a friday night and packed. They played for the 25 anniversary the stay hungry album in order.Great show and even ended with a huge surprise for old smfs with its only rock and roll but i like it! NOW they end with SMF.They used the show to warm up for the big festivals.I again say i have no problem with them playing the festivals there. I even bragg to people how they headline over theyre bands. I also realize they cant play in the states because the fan support is not there for a big events. But since the bands been playing these festivals and other projects that they do [reality shows -radio-etc] i would guess theyre doing really good, i saw sniders house on tv! I also have no problem with that, great for you guys keep going. Now how about when you have a little down time schedule in THE CHANCE,THE STARLAND,THE CRAZY DONKEY, to show the true SMFS like me and you who supported the band through the good and bad times that its not just about the big shows but about the music. I was watching that metal show and they had on the lead singer of anthrax and pointed out how one night he can play in front of 200,000 people and the next play for 50 in a club somewhere! He just love to play.Thats what its all about!

Whoa there....

Do NOT be knocking this band because they do not play smaller gigs. Ignoring the fans for so called profit.

ANY research on the members of this band will tell you they all have big commitments outside of the band itself.

JJ is a very successful business man, running his own management company. Dee of course, has his radio show, The House of Hair.. Both these guys have crawled themselves back from bankruptcy and built careers away from TS that provide for their families way more than royalties from TS records sales ever did. Nowadays they are fully aware of the pitfalls of the music/entertainment industry and are cautious of not being able to make ends meet.

The outside commitments also mean that there are at least five band member schedules to try and co-ordinate. Considering that one fact alone, makes keeping TS going a monumental task and one hell of a commitment by the band members to the fans and the band itself. It all has to tie in with making sure everybody is covered and can provide regular income for their respective families. The band provides a platform for its respective members to earn, travel and promote themselves enough to be worthwhile. The costs involved are enormous. (Try flying a band and its equipment to South America, Greece, etc.) and then taking care of business at home. Ever notice that the House of Hair is played all over the US every week no matter where TS play? Thats because Dee pre records the shows. Thats days in front of a microphone before he then travels half way across the world to play a gig. Thats a lot of work. Dont forget rehearsals, stage clothing, equipment etc, etc. AND...they have families too.

So...we have to be thankful for what we get. Lord knows none of us want this reunion to ever end. A lot of juggling goes on to make all this happen. And if not doing something (like smaller gigs) is the price we pay...trust me...its worth it.

I'm sure no harm is intended by your post. Wanting more TS is what we all desire on this site. But suggesting they all drop their real earning potential to give more time to us, basically give themselves away, is no way to keep this reunion going. A few years back, after 9/11, the members of TS regrouped and dipped their toes back into the murky waters of the music industry. Since New York Steel they have tested and retested its viability. If all this ever becomes non-viable, or the minute any one of the band members start risking what they have built outside TS, the reunion will stop.

So trust me...we SMF's are not forgotten.

Peace.

Evel...Phx, Az

Hey Evel
this is the second thread this guy has started with the exact same gripe. I responded along the same vein as you, and he decided to re-post the same thing, just with a different header. His last thread was under the title: NO MORE LOYALTY.
Save your keystrokes--he doesn't seem to be listening, and is bent on the very familiar cry we hear so often: "Please play pooh-keepsie!" If I had a dollar for every time I heard that line, I could fly the whole frickin' slamboard to the UK.

crikey.

Lets start by going back and see how i do.Twisted breaks up and snider does widomaker and desparado. Then in 1999 i get wind that hes playing the CHANCE with the SMFS and its all twisted songs. Then comes 2001 and at the CHANCE snider announces to us that he and the band are getting back together. Through the 2001-2006 years they play places like the downtown, starland crazy donkey,Great adventure, even on the beach at the 2day festival they have in virginia I know I was there! Oh i forgot even the CHANCE EVERY ONE OF THOSE YEARS!And through those years snider is doing his radio show and the other members are doing there thing.I think some oversea festivals too in those years. Then comes the years where things change! They are handed the keys not only to play loys of festvals but to headline them.Even back in the hey days they admit they would be no.5 on the bill not no.1. Okay great! Ill say it again,i have no problem with any of this. The house that snider lives in and what the band has made off of all these years doing these gigs and other projects i dont think theyll see poverty street again. Now thats great! No problem with that .Go for it.But your not going to make me believe that out 12mos,365days,they cant say hey guys we have a little downtime lets throw in a gig at the CHANCEand another small club.I believe its because they dont need us and these stupid little gigs anymore!Hey where playing in front of 100,000 people, 300 at the chance NO WAY!

Hi BobCat.
Okay....
here ya go:
They have played (since 2003) either as Twisted Sister or the no-frills version Bent Brother...more shows in NYC than any other city:

2003: The Chance, L'Amours, and the Starland Blallroom
2004: Mid-Hudson Civic Center, The Chance, The Starland, The Downtown, Meadowlands
2005-2006 I was living out west--can't remember but I know there were dates in there somewhere.
2007: Fillmore NYC
2008: Nokia NYC--two shows
2009: Nokia NYC ; Crazy Donkey, Starland
2010: No NY shows but they played Plymouth MA and Philly.
2011: Best Buy Theatre

So that's...what...15 shows in NY area on the reunion tour. I'm sure there were more that I forgot. Every show they played--and I've caught quite a few of them--it is ALWAYS about the music. These guys, their manager, their crew--they have one priority and that is to deliver a great show every time, to every fan. They care. They really really do. If all they cared about was money, they would be doing something else entirely.

Touring is brutal--I have seen, firsthand, how grueling and physical it can be on the band members. They give it all they have, with all of their heart and energy. AJ played in South America with a broken foot-- he could barely get himself onto the bus after the show he was so wiped out. But he knew that those fans had waited 30 years for TS--most had NEVER seen them play. He wasn't going to let them down. The man played an INCREDIBLE set.

When Eddie had emergency back surgery, the band took the stage with an emergency fill-in--Jay Jay spent the entire day with the guy, teaching him the parts so he could play, just so the fans would not have a canceled show. Eddie played the subsequent shows, and even though he was not 100% he gave it his all, so that the fans could enjoy the Twisted experience. They played in a fucking downpour, with electrical shorts left and right in Wichita--damn near electrocuting themselves. Why? They hated to leave the stage knowing that the fans waited for them all day. Dee has stood outside in freezing cold temperatures in POUGHKEEPSIE no less, signing autographs for fans. His manager was trying to shoo him inside because the sub zero temps are bad for the vocal cords. Do ya know what Dee told him? "yeah, I know....I'll be inside soon. I gotta go talk to these guys--they are out here freezing just for us." yes. I was there.

THIS is what it's all about. Jay Jay, Eddie, Mark, AJ were exhausted in Brazil--jet lagged and wiped out from a killer show--and they still spent OVER AN HOUR with a hoard of fans back at the hotel, signing autographs, taking pictures and just talking to everyone. The hotel offered to bring them in through a back door--they STILL came out front to meet with fans.

We may see a few small clubs in the future--who knows? But what you are basically asking for, is so remarkably self-centered, as if Poughkeepsie made Twisted Sister. If you follow that logic, then they should play more UK dates, because it was there that they got signed.

So seriously, Bobcat. Really think about what you're saying. Poughkeepsie is not the center of the frickin' universe. There are fans all over the country, all over the world, that would give ANYTHING to have Twisted come within 100 miles of their town. Twisted has played yours...or near yours....at least 15 times. Make all the "please play poughkeepsie" requests you want--maybe they'll actually do it. But don't come on this slamboard and somehow imply that they they don't know "what it's all about" because they don't play your town enough to your taste. That's absolutely absurd.

[anyone else notice it always seems to be poughkeepsie folks who complain about this?]
