Hey everybody, I made a facebookpage to persuade Twisted Sister to perform again with full make-up and costumes. I know it's a shot in the dark but I'm hoping many of you SMF's like this page so we can convince them that we want to see TS in the way we all learned to know them.

We just had over 10 years of that. The fact that they continue to take the stage and deliver their music with the famous lineup is most important.

Maybe when they announce their very last show they'll go out with a visual bang. Otherwise, they'd probably have to be offered a shitload more money to costume up for a random performance.

Headlining Graspop aint random. The other headliners are Iron Maiden and Slipknot, last year Ozzy Osbourne, Limp Bizkit and Guns 'n Roses. It isn't just a festival, it is one of the biggest metal festivals in Europe. If they don't play with make-up when they aren't headlining, I can understand that. But as headliner at such big events, I believe it would give a surplus to the show. Do you see Kiss playing without make-up?, King Diamond? Rob Zombie?, Alice Cooper? or Slipknot without masks? It's all part of their legacy, one needs to respect that. They wouldn't have been this big without the shock-element.

Hellburner... Kiss played about 15 years without the make up

I think Twisted now, don't need the make up for a great show... they play without make up for about 2-3 years now and they still kickass and headline...

Yes and Metallica played with short hair during the Load/Reload period. These are both examples of bands with an identity crisis at that moment. You cannot say that the no make-up period of Kiss was the highlight in their exsistance? Same for Metallica. I believe you can say the same thing about Twisted Sister after the failure of Love is for suckers and the troubles within the band. Now that they are back at the top of the scene, I believe they should reinstate the trademarks from their past. Don't get me wrong I'd rather see them 5 playing without the make-up than 1 original member and 4 replacements with the make-up. And I know the make-up doesn't make the music better, it's just an extra part of the whole Twisted Sister experience. It saddens me that nobody feels the same way. I had great fun last year at Graspop but when I think of Twisted Sister, the first thing that crosses my mind, is the first time I saw the videoclip of We're not gonna take it on MTV and that is how I will remember Twisted Sister!

There is no doubt that twisted should be in makeup! The music does come first but,the one who sticks out the most from the makeup is dee.Animal doesn't look the same from the old days and in fact the only two who resemble the look from back in the day is eddie and dee.Now i sound like i'm in between no makeup and yes? Take a poll and i bet the fans will vote 90% yes! Most new people i see at a show say what happened to the look!

I don't see Twisted playing in makeup/costumes overseas.... it would cost too much in freight and baggage fees for Dee's makeup kit ;-)

(oh relax. I'm kidding. ..makeup or no makeup....all that matters is that they keep playing at the level they play!)

This poses the question. Would certain people here not be a fan if they didn't wear outfits/costumes/make up in the 1st place??? Would it make a blind person less of a fan because they can't see the visual?

This isn't parallel to a theatrical play where if you remove the costumes the actors would be out of character. Or would it?

Watch 2 of their concerts. 1 while they are decked out in makeup and 1 without. Then close your eyes and simply listen. There's absolutely no difference.

And here's another hypothetical question. Would anyone prefer a 20 song concert without their classic outfits or 15 songs with?

I get it that there is a visual spectacle and, especially for those who haven't seen TS live in that light, there is an element that is missing from a live show. And that's part of the performance and showmanship. Dee has stated that if you just wanted to listen to the music you can sit home and do so. Going to a show means seeing a show and not just hearing music. So I totally get it.

Maybe I'm jaded because I've seen it many times and now I'm at the point where I'm just thrilled that they actually take the stage in 2013. I may have already seen my last show. But if seeing them again means seeing them without makeup then hell yeah, I'll take it in a heartbeat and love it all the same.

Well maybe that's my problem. I'm from '81 and allthough I grew up with MTV and the legendary TS clips, I'm still a baby-SMF. It's since 2001 that I rediscovered Twisted Sister. And since last year at Graspop they are my absolute number 1 band (at first it was Dimmu Borgir!). Because I grew up with the clips and the make-up I associate Twisted Sister with the make-up. As a child I thought they were heavy metal superhero's with those costumes!

The 4 most made up bands were KISS, Motley. Poison and TS. Motley, Poison and us took it off Time goes on.......
I think KISS looks terrible. That is my opinion. They have a much tougher problem then us as they are almost 100% defined by thier cartoon characters. They know that. they are really stuck with it as well. They accept it. Gene and Paul are pros and that's their choice.

I will never say never but if you don't feel it then it's not real. Right now we dont feel it. We have headlined around the world just as we are and the reaction has been exactly the same all over the world. The fans just want us to COME OUT AND PLAY!!!

Thanks for the post Jay Jay, but you have to know that you also have new fans. Problaby 90% of the slamboard have allready seen Twisted Sister with make-up, so it's logical that no one seems to care.
Everytime I post something on the slamboard, I mostly get the reaction: why? I want to hear 30 live, the reaction; 'Why, I want to hear the old stuff.' A new album; 'Why, the old stuff is good...' But when I ask about the make-up, I get the opposite reaction; 'Why, the make-up is something from the past...'
Again, don't get me wrong, I'm very happy that I can see the original line-up for 2 years in a row and I hope to see them many more times. Ok, maybe the make-up isn't the most important, it's definately the music, but than you have to make new songs for all those new fans you are gaining with your live shows across the world. Don't become a Twisted Sister tribute by Twisted Sister. You guys got the skills and the energy to conquer the world with new material too.

PS: sorry if my English isn't that good, I learned it from Arnold Schwarzenegger and James Hetfield
