YouTube - Peter Cook: "Lord Stockton: A Life" + Twisted Sister (1986)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocMUBZ8elDs&search=twisted%20sister%20saturday%20

In this "Saturday Live" sketch Peter Cook plays an old Conservative from the House of Lords, interviewed by John Bird in the autumn of his years. ("Nearly dead, yes.")

Although not named directly, "Lord Stockton" was the former UK Prime Minister Harold MacMillan ( http://tinyurl.com/l4nyy ), which explains the "Macmillan Publishing" in-joke. And he was indeed "nearly dead", dying (at the ripe old age of 92) not long after this program was broadcast, although the two events are presumably unconnected. When MacMillan was Prime Minister, he became the first UK head of government to be impersonated in a satirical show. Indeed he turned up at a performance of the show, "Beyond the Fringe", specifically to see himself impersonated. The person doing this ground-breaking impersonation? Peter Cook. ( http://tinyurl.com/e86j3 )

This sketch links directly into a live performance of "I am, I'm Me" performed by Twisted Sister. (NB This performance is actually from later in the show. The actual performance Cook linked into was a pisspoor cover of "Leader of the Pack". This performance was much better though. )

Wow Cyndi, you've been straining your twisted brain yourself... Have to ask though, why you said that the Saturday Live performance of Leader Of The Pack was pisspoor? That was a lot heavier version than on the record. I like the song anyway (the album version included). I actually remember that LOTP was played on the Finnish national radio back when Come Out And Play was released. Time flies but once an SMF, always an SMF.

Rami,

That was not me who said that, it was a "copy and paste" from that website, I would NOT EVER say that, I love that song...you must have misunderstood that post, sorry about that...

OK then, I was just wondering. Guess I should have known better. By the way, you did a kick ass post in the "dream is over" thread. I feel totally the same way. Well maybe I won't cry when the band will stop but I know TS will be in my heart until the end of my days.

Glad that little matter is cleared up. hehehe..

Awww....thanks alot Rami for saying that about my post, it was from my heart most definitely. Oh..come on now, don't be afraid to cry..lol..just kiddin'. I have prepared myself for the inevitable, but it still will be hard to say goodbye! I hope the "SMF Camp" will still hang out here because I know I will. And of course I plan on following their solo ventures.

Do you remember me telling you that your TS website and Shawn Graziano's site was where it all began for me when I first got my computer back in 2002? Both your sites were the best TS fan related sites I had seen, I won't forget that. You never forget where you came from. Thank God for memories...

Thanks for being such a dedicated and LOYAL SMF!
