Record Company Good Guy Posts: 575 | As someone who is a technology moron, I was afraid for a long time. Would I be able to figure out how to get my stuff on there? Would it be worth it? Well let me tell you, it is the greatest invention for music since the cd. I got the 60 gb video version and this holds 15,000 songs!! You can easily make playlists to suit any mood. I have a TS one that starts with the club daze stuff and progresses chronologically til LIFS. I have a SABBABTH one, a maiden one, the possibilites are endless. I consistently would pack for a flight pick 10-15 cd's to listen to and when I get on the plane , BAM I dont feel like listening to what I have. If you love music as much as I think you do, and you still listen hours a day, then take the plunge. You won't be sorry.

Extreme SMF Posts: 132 Location: Philadelphia, PA | I can back Saber up on that. I have every CD I own plus some downloads in addition to a large photo library on a 30 GB photo iPod. I have everything from Johnny Cash to The Ramones to Chopin (no, Fred's not playing). I also can upload the prior day's Stern show onto it so I'm not tied to the Sirius reciever. As Saber reports, playlists are really functional. I have a Stern show playlist with some of the music from the show like Train playing Zep and the Fab Faux doing their thing. It fits right nicely in my left front jean pocket and I can operate the controls from outside the pocket (it only looks like I'm playing with myself). There are also a ton of podcasts available for just about everything imaginable. There are a couple of cool science ones (for geeks like me), as well as new music, politics, news, comedy, etc. Edited by GJG 2006-03-05 12:04 PM

I've got a shitload of CDs and counting and I wanna know how much of my collection I could fit on it. I have the 60gig, which is the biggest the make. It holds up to 15,000 songs, or a combination of pix/videos songs. I have 5800 songs on it now and that leaves years of new music for me. I still have a 1000 or so cd's in storage that were definitley b-level titles and I will go thru soon and probably take 2 or 3 songs for each. Most of the above were taken from 500 or 600 of my fave cd's.

I've got a shitload of CDs and counting and I wanna know how much of my collection I could fit on it. They have all different capacities so it's really up to the user to decide how many songs they want to put on it. Since you're new to the iPod thing, I'll just throw this out there: There are lots of different companies that make mp3 players. iPods are not the only mp3 players out there as pop culture would have you believe. I personally would recommend a Creative model. They're cheaper, have more options, and have far fewer issues with them. (I actually have an iPod myself and it freezes up on my all the time!) I sell mp3/video players from Creative and Toshiba as well as iPods at work and I would have to say that the Creative players blow away the iPods in my opinion. Apple has just done a much better job of marketing. Don't get me wrong. The iPods do the trick and they look better but the Creatives are just a much better player with more options for less money. Check 'em out and make your own decision, though.
