I have a few STARZ, Angel and Jesse Bolt. If anyone saw any of these bands I'm sure you know they put on a great show. Another band, in the States anyway, that was mega talented and never took off was Uriah Heep (Byron era). They were big across the pond but for some reason staye dopening act status in the state, Excpet maybe samer venues when Demons and Wizards made it big.

Serious SMF Posts: 43 Location: L'Amour | I would have to say TT Quick. I use to love seeing this band live right around when there EP came out. They would do great covers of AC/DC, Sabbath, Zeppelin and mix in some of there original stuff, just like Sister use to do. They finally got signed to a major label and basically fell off soon after. I wish they would reunite one more time. Last time I saw them, they opened up for Dee & the SMF's at some club out in Jersey. Great live band!

Never knew they played with Dee. Would be nice to see Sister headline a show with all the bands from the day. Something to think about.

Geek-in-Chief Posts: 606 Location: Noo Yawk | The singer was Rhett Forrester (from the early Riot), and the guitar player was the insanely good Paul Kayen who played with Scarface. They did put out one album, which ended up being a Rhett album titled 'Even The Score' because the name got taken by another band that John Sykes was in. They were so fucking good. Kayen retired from the biz and I believe he lives in forida now. Rhett got shot and killed out in Arizona. Too bad. - D

Extreme SMF Posts: 132 Location: Philadelphia, PA | Don't know what happened to my portion of the post. Here it is again. Is this a different Badlands from the Ray Gillan/Jake E. Lee project? The Sykes project that Gillan was in for a short time was Blue Murder. I didn't know about a Sykes Badlands project. Anyway Rhett was a phenomenal vocalist and a great showman. I had been aware of him since he was in Racheal and they opened for TS for the first or second annual SMF TS show at the Fountain Casino. Just an FYI, he was shot in Atlanta, GA. Be Easy!

Geek-in-Chief Posts: 606 Location: Noo Yawk | It didn't get very far - because Sykes joined Thin Lizzy shortly after they did their demo. The frontman for this Badlands was John Sloman, who was in Uriah Heep. Read what little history there is here. And thanks for the correction re Rhett. It was Atlanta, not Phoenix. - D

Extreme SMF Posts: 107 Location: Worcester, England | I feel so young reading all these posts, wish i'd been around back then to appreciate rock at its prime, but i beleive the music we love is making a comeback, i'm only 21 but play TS to my housemates and uni friend and they all love it, my generation all loves rock music, they just haven't had enough opportunity to hear it, well i'm gonna drag them out of the emo moshpits and bringing a few to Nottingham Rock City to see the iron men of rock and roll, then they'l understand what its all about and never look back, can't wait to show them a real rock show! bex x

Another great Tri-State band from the early '80's was Cintron. A great 3 piece band who put out a EP of original songs that was fantastic. Anyone else see them?

Extreme SMF Posts: 132 Location: Philadelphia, PA | D- Thanks for the education. I had never known about that project before. It appears that the guitarist you mentioned also got credit on Rhett's "Gone with the Wind." The Cintron Fan- I still get chills when I think about George's version of Sea of Fire. I bought a Mountain CD just to get Leslie's version, but while it is good, it just ain't the same.

Geek-in-Chief Posts: 606 Location: Noo Yawk | He was about my favorite guitar player out here for a while. Great feel, fast, tricky, killer tone. I haven't seen George C. in a while, but he's one of my favorite people from the club days. He used to tell me I was the only guitar player he knew who knew as many songs as he did - we used to do a lot of jamming in the Sparks days... He played at my bachelor party for my first marriage - I ended up spilling a beer into his effects board. - D

Destroyer Posts: 545 | Swiftkick! Suicide....suicide! Great band..did GREAT Alice Cooper covers and had real good originals. Released an ep and named their record label after my brother's dog's dick. Red Thing Records. It was an honor. I think. Edited by Fast Joey 2006-03-06 8:31 PM

Nearly A Band Member Posts: 632 Location: Over the Rainbow. | I remember Swiftkick. Another good band. I'd prefer to see Sister any night of the wek over these other bands! lol And I probably did cause Sister stands out the most and they usually played one of the 4 places I could have seen them.
